As Seen on TV: Community and Residents Featured on “Good Day DC”

Leisure World of Maryland was the location for local television station Fox5/WTTG’s “Zip Trip” segments on its morning program, “Good Day DC” on June 29. Throughout the five-hour program, Fox5 hosts interacted with people and places in the community, spotlighting its vibrancy and good living. Soon after dawn, resident golfers shared tips on the air at the 18-hole course’s driving range, and Fitness Center regulars showed off their exercise regimens.

While resident deejays spun toe-tapping tunes at the main set in front of Clubhouse I all morning, Fox5 honored two residents as “Hometown Heroes” for their work to benefit military veterans, resident clubs and organizations promoted their groups in live interviews, hosts sampled entrees and desserts from Leisure World’s two restaurants as well as the Indian cuisine of another resident cookbook author, and members of the Pickleball Club played an impromptu game with hosts after being name “Hometown Team.” A pre-recorded video of “5 Must Stops” in the community including its walking paths, indoor and outdoor pools, garden plots, fitness center and restaurants also aired during the program.

Residents, guests and staff continually gathered at the main set from 6-11 a.m., cheering their neighbors who appeared on air and putting their community spirit on display.
