Walking Distance
Steps from Leisure World, Giant Food grocery store anchors a shopping plaza with five major banks, and a variety of retail, food, and service essentials.
Surrounding Area
Downtown Silver Spring, Bethesda, and Chevy Chase are all an easy commute, as are Westfield Wheaton and Westfield Montgomery shopping malls. Olney Theatre Center is nearby.

Easy Day Trips
Residents regularly venture into the nation’s capital. Popular destinations include the Smithsonian museums and historic monuments on the National Mall, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the historic neighborhood of Georgetown, and Rock Creek Park.
National Harbor features restaurants from world-renowned chefs, shopping, and a MGM casino. In Baltimore, there’s Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the Inner Harbor.
Leisure World is transportation friendly. Our community is near the Inter-County Connector (ICC) and provides easy access to I-95, Georgia Avenue, and Connecticut Avenue. Public transportation is convenient, too.
Near ICC
Located about half a mile from Leisure World, the Inter-County Connector (ICC/MD 200) toll road provides a direct connection between Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, relieving congestion and saving drive time. I-95 is accessible via the ICC.
Access to I-95
From Leisure World there are three easy ways to access I-95, depending on your preferences and ultimate destination. The ICC, Georgia Avenue, and Connecticut Avenue all connect with I-95.
Metrobus and Metrorail
The Metrobus Y7 and Y8 lines serve Leisure World with a public bus stop located within the community. The closest Metrorail station is Glenmont, about four miles away.
The Y7 and Y8 provide transportation from Leisure World south to the Glenmont, Wheaton, Forest Glen, and Silver Spring Metrorail stations, all on the Red Line—which also serves Amtrak’s Union Station in Washington, D.C. The bus routes also travel north to Olney and the MedStar Montgomery Medical Center.
Leisure World is served by three international airports in the Washington region. By car, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Baltimore-Washington International Airport, and Washington Dulles International Airport are all about 30 miles away from our community.
An MTA Commuter Bus (Route 201) provides express service to BWI Airport (and its Amtrak/MARC station) from the nearby Georgia Avenue Park & Ride lot, located half a mile from our community, just south of the ICC.
